There are two basic types of website promotion - online and offline.
Offline promotion is any marketing that takes place outside of the internet - radio,
print magazines, newspapers, television, etc.
Online promotion focuses on driving traffic that is already using the internet - capturing
interest when your target audience is most readily available. The majority of internet traffic
is driven through just a handful of major search engines - Google, Yahoo and MSN.
While there are other smaller search engines and directories that drive decent traffic,attaining high visibility on the big three for important keywords and keyphrases will almost certainly pay greater dividends than any other online promotion effort.
